1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup of Epsom salt
1/2 cup of corn starch
1/2 cup of citric acid
2 large bowls
1 whisk
2.5 tablespoons canola oil
1 tablespoon water
2 teaspoons essential oil (optional)
4-6 drops of food coloring

Mix the dry ingredients (1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, 1/2 cup of corn starch, and 1/2 cup of citric acid) together in a large bowl
Use the whisk to make sure the mixture is clump-free
Mix the wet ingredients (2.5 tablespoons oil, 1 tablespoon water, 2 teaspoons essential oil (optional), and 4-6 drops of food coloring) in a separate bowl
Slowly add the liquid to the dry mixture
Whisk as you go, and slow down if things start to look fizzy
Immediately add the mixture into the ice cube tray
Press the mixture down firmly
Let the bath bombs dry then pop them out
Throw one into the tub and enjoy!
Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a key ingredient in the bath bomb, when the high pH powder reacts with a low pH acid, in this case the citric acid, it produces carbon dioxide bubbles, which is what you see coming up in the tub.
