Everything is made up of tiny little things called molecules, and everything has a different amount of molecules. Liquids that have more molecules are heavy and stay at the bottom of the jar, the ones with less molecules are lighter and they rise to the top. This causes the liquids to separate into layers, and because we coloured our liquids when they separate it looks like a rainbow.
