1 empty pop bottle
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 tissue
1 funnel
100 ml of vinegar (acetic acid)
1 rubber stopper that fits the pop bottle
1 plastic cup
Small piece of plywood (or something to launch it off of)
Pour 100 mL of vinegar into the bottle
Scoop 1 tablespoon of baking soda and place it in the center of the tissue
Wrap the tissue around the baking soda to keep it contained but in a shape that will fit through the neck of the pop bottle
Place the plastic cup onto the piece of wood
Drop the tissue with baking into the bottle, plug the bottle firmly with the stopper and then turn the bottle upside down into the cup
Step back and enjoy!
As the baking soda and acetic acid (vinegar) mix it forms a gas. This causes pressure to build up in the bottle. Eventually, this will force the stopper out and propel the bottle into the air.
